Research of light transport through tubular light guides
Duration: 2008-2010
The utilization of buildings is area with one of the most energy consumption in the national economy. Because traditional energy sources for energy production are gradually depleted there are looking for low energy technology which can replace them. Tubular light guides are the novel technology for transport daylight from exterior to interior, in which daylight is insufficient or missing. The publication CIE 173:2006 with information about the use of tubular light guides was published in 2006. It seems that the previous research of optical properties of tubular light guides was made in mostly at the level of experimental measurements and empirical evaluations while the theoretical knowledge of the light propagation through these devices is absented. Only evaluations of light guides during clear or overcast days can be found in publication of most authors. The standard ISO 1569:2004 CIE-Standard General Sky is valid since 2004. The daylighting under standard sky conditions can be investigated applying this standard.
